Louisa Mark

On Sunday 13th December the worlds of both Reggae and Soul come together to pay tribute to the late, great Louisa Mark who sadly passed away on 15th of October 2009 whilst residing in the Gambia West Africa.

22 top acts from the genres of Lover’s Rock, Ska, Reggae and Soul will join forces to pay tribute the original queen of Lover’s Rock.

Louisa Mark cut her first single at the tender age of just 15. She recorded the monster hit ‘Caught You In a Lie’ which for many has become the soundtrack of their lives. Louisa further went onto to sing many other notable Lover’s Rock classics these being. ‘People In Love (Which she wrote) Six Street, keep it Like It Is, Even though your Gone and Hello There.

Dennis Bovell founder of the original Lovers Rock band Matumbi said ‘The passing of Louisa is a real loss to the reggae Industry. I look forward to paying my respects on the night’. Legendary record producer Clem Bushay who produced many of Louisa’s finest moments said. ‘A true Queen has gone to live amongst our ancestors. I hope that people will come out and show the Mark family and all those that followed Louisa’s music the best tribute we could ever give’
