alchemea

Alchemea College of Audio Engineering has forged an innovative new partnership with Andrew Czezowski and Susan Carrington's historic London venue "The Fridge" to bring live sound engineering courses into the real world.

Alchemea, has developed an intensive hands-on 4-month Live Sound Diploma Course, it's aim to give students unprecedented levels of real practical experience, with all practical training and study taking place at “The Fridge”, which has recently undergone a substantial refurbishment programme.

SSE Sales has supplied a Digidesign Venue Profile HD64 front of house console (including a Pro Tools HD recording system) as part of a complete PA system that is being provided by Alchemea.

Neil Pickles one of Alchemea's Directors comments:

"Emma Barwell of SSE's London office has been very helpful to us during the conception stage of our Live Sound Diploma with her advice and so SSE Sales is of course our choice for supplying our Venue system.

The Venue Profile HD64 was the logical choice as our Front of House board as it was important to be able to offer cost effective recording of Live Shows to Promoters, Bands, Radio and TV companies. In addition, the Virtual Sound check has many uses educationally, enabling students to learn signal flow, practice monitor mixing and FOH mixing before stepping up to real bands as the course progresses.

Alchemea, one of the only Digidesign/Avid Pro Schools in Europe, also offers Digidesign's own 210V course to established sound engineers who wish to really get to grips with its many options

ENCORE HELPS TO DEFROST THE FRIDGE - TUESDAY 4TH AUGUST 2009

EncoreA d&b J-Series sound system has been installed at the revamped Fridge live music venue in Brixton, South London, reports PSN-e. 'Dusted down and spruced up' by owners Andrew Czezowski and Susan Carrington, The Fridge features an extensive new PA and lighting specification.

Now capable of hosting audiences of up to 1,700 people, The Fridge is also reportedly racking up a series of UK club firsts in its latest incarnation, including a 24-hour licence and a full-time paramedic.

Designed and installed by Encore PA, the sound system is based around a ground-stacked specification of d&b J-Series units. There are three J8 elements per side - one B2 and two J-SUBS - with a further two J8s per side to cover the balcony area. FOH control is provided by a Digidesign D-Show Profile console, with a Midas XL3 masterminding onstage sound. Outboard equipment for the XL3 includes ten channels of Klark Teknik DN360 graphic equalisers, four dbx 160 compressors, four channels of Drawmer ds201 gates, a Yamaha SPX990 and a Lexicon PCM70 reverb.

Encore also supplied ten d&b Max wedges for monitoring, as well as a full complement of mics and stands, including equipment from Shure, AKG, Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser.
